ABOUT THE SHOW

FILM at LACMA presents classic and contemporary narrative and documentary films, artists and their influences, emerging auteurs, international showcases, special guest-curated programs, and conversations with artists and special guests.

I Am… Film Series
This winter, LACMA presents a series of films by award-winning and emerging Latin American and BIPOC filmmakers who approach their subjects through the eye of the “other” with curiosity, empathy, and respect. The series will explore overlapping themes prevalent in both the U.S. and Latin America, bringing together Latin American and BIPOC filmmakers to find a point of convergence. Each screening will be followed by a curated conversation with the filmmaker, creating a dialogue that offers overlapping yet unique cultural perspectives about the topics of the films. Curated by Vanessa Perez, the series aims to celebrate cultural diversity and emerging filmmakers, while showing we are all interconnected.

Join FILM at LACMA for a screening of The Infiltrators, followed by a conversation with directors Cristina Ibarra, Alex Rivera and Claudio Rojas.

The Infiltrators
The Infiltrators is a docu-thriller that tells the true story of young immigrants who are detained by Border Patrol and thrown into a shadowy for-profit detention center—on purpose. Marco and Viri are members of the National Immigrant Youth Alliance, a group of radical DREAMers who are on a mission to stop unjust deportations. And the best place to stop deportations, they believe, is in detention. However, when Marco and Viri attempt a daring reverse “prison break,” things don’t go according to plan. By weaving together documentary footage of the real infiltrators with re-enactments of the events inside the detention center, The Infiltrators tells an incredible and thrilling true story in a genre-defying new cinematic language.

RSVPs will close two hours prior to showtime. Viewing instructions will be sent to the provided email just prior to the scheduled start time. The film will be available until midnight, Sunday, March 6.
